Dear Future Story-Tellers

Interested in speaking at one of our open mics? Great! Spaces are reserved first come, first serve. That means that the first seven people who contact us are guaranteed a spot to speak!  We will reply confirming your spot.

TIPS & TRICKS

  • Practice your story! This is your time to shine, this is your story to tell. Savor it. Practice it. Do it justice. Write an outline, write it all out, say it to yourself, perform it for a friend, time it, meditate, test your zoom connection... whatever form "practice" looks like for you please take the time to prepare.

  • Check out the "Rules" on our website... and make sure your talk is within the guidelines.

  • Savor your time. Do not rush, take a deep breath, live in your story and moment.

  • Believe in yourself. I know it can be nerve wracking to speak publicly... and doing it over zoom might feel even more scary. But heck, have some faith that what you have to say is important. Relish it!

  • Use Us. Need someone to provide feedback? Workshop your story? Or maybe just give some practical tips? Just let us know and we’ll set up a call.

  • No need to expressly state the theme. This is an optional tip. Some might want to explain how your story connects to "I Wonder" or to speak about how you came to the conclusion that you wanted to tell this particular story - but you do not need to justify it! Our theme is used to loosely link all of the stories together. It is to serve as inspiration not a restriction or mold.
